Setting up a Quicksearch button to EBSCO Full Text Finder

The power of EBSCO’s Full Text Finder can be readily accessed by adding a Quicksearch button at the top of the Searching interface.

Some authors (such as Google) restrict their web pages from inclusion in a Framed page. Including a restricted web page displays only a blank screen.

To set up a EBSCO Quicksearch Button

  1. Log in to the Admin console.
  2. Locate the profile in which you want to modify the My Account settings, then from the Select menu choose Quicksearch Buttons.
  3. Choose Add Quicksearch Button.
  4. Type the Code, Name, Language, and Hover Text for the button.
  5. In the Type drop-down list, select External URL – Framed.
  6. In the Link URL field, enter the Search URL you want to link to.
  7. In the Display Type field, select one of the available options (Default Icon, Custom Icon, Text).

    • When Default Icon is selected, choose an icon type appropriate to the search URL results.
    • When Custom Icon is selected, select the Choose File button, locate the icon file you want, and choose Upload.
    • When Text is selected, enter the text to display as the Quicksearch icon.
  8. When you have finished, choose OK.
  9. From the Quicksearch Buttons page, choose the Visible checkbox for the new button.
